Pitcairngreen Village Hall

Live-in Hall Keeper Vacancy (Voluntary)

INTRODUCTION

Pitcairngreen is a small village with a thriving community in the Almond Valley area of Perth.  The Pitcairngreen Village Association is a charitable organisation run by a Committee which is responsible for the upkeep and promotion of the village hall, trees and greens, which are provided for the enjoyment of the local community.

The Committee seeks a suitable individual to undertake the voluntary live-in role of Hall Keeper on its behalf. The successful candidate will be expected to take up the role from August 2023.

JOB OUTLINE

The successful candidate will work closely with the Committee to ensure the village hall is maintained in good condition and available for use for a range of activities. Duties will include (but not be limited to):

  • Opening and closing the hall for bookings as required;

  • Ensuring the security of the hall;

  • General maintenance duties in relation to heating, lighting, windows and the fabric of the building;

  • Providing assistance to hall users, for example setting up equipment.

  • Cleaning duties as required;

  • Basic administration such as logging hall use and handling payments from hall users

A full schedule of appointment will be provided to the successful candidate outlining all duties and expectations. Full training will be provided.

LIVE-IN CONDITIONS

It is a condition of the appointment that the Hall Keeper undertakes the role on a ‘live-in’ basis. The successful candidate (and their immediate family if required) will be provided with exclusive use of an unfurnished, three-bedroom flat and garden which is located at the back of the property. Due to the variable hours associated with the role it is a requirement that the flat will become the primary residence of the successful candidate.

No rental is charged for use of the flat however occupants are responsible for their own contents insurance, Council Tax and setting up of utilities accounts.

The flat is located on the first floor via a private entrance and staircase. A viewing of the accommodation will be offered to candidates going forward to interview.
